Crunk!!! Energy Drink Review

August 2, 2006

Crunk is a very unique tasting energy drink that uses a flavor that has previously been untapped in the energy drink category — pomegranate. The flavor is quite good as it is tart and potent enough to cover any aftertaste that this drink may have had. With over a dozen ingredients, the energy formulation is quite extensive compared to many other products out there. As for the brand, the phrase “Crunk!!!” offers a unique call to action for all those who are familiar with the man behind this product — Lil’ Jon, a musician who is the self proclaimed “King of Crunk”. Regardless of if you know him or not, the appeal to Crunk!!! is still there as its innocuous appearance (compared to the often offensive or misunderstood energy drink brands) certainly has the potential to attract consumers of all types. Overall, we like the look and love the taste of Crunk.

Lil Jon Song Kills Two Men by Causing Shootout in Dallas

July 27, 2006

┬áDallas authorities have reason to believe that a nightclub shooting between rival gangs, which left two people dead and four others injured last weekend, was sparked by a Lil’ Jon song.

According to Dallas Morning News, two gangs — one from East Dallas and the other from South Dallas — were at the El Angel nightclub on Sunday (July 16) to attend a birthday party and had agreed to put their rivalry aside for the evening.

An hour later, police say Lil Jon’s “Put Yo Hood Up” was played and the two gangs begun fighting, quickly emptying the club. The skirmishing between the two groups continued outside and guns were eventually pulled out.

22-year-old Lendl Carey and 20-year-old Kenneth Haggerty were shot and killed. The injured were rushed were to a nearby hospital where they were treated and released.

“Put Yo Hood Up,” which urges listeners to represent their neighborhoods via hand signs, has been linked to another murder in Arkansas.

When police reports associating the murders to hip-hop surfaced, Dallas based rappers and DJ’s responded by voicing their outrage.

“It’s crazy that police would say something like that,” Mr. Pookie told the Morning News. “When alcohol is involved and tempers flare, shit happens. A song can’t make somebody shoot someone.”

“Dallas police have no business calling ‘Put Yo Hood Up’ a ‘flashpoint’ for violence,” said DJ Big Bink of The Beat. “When they make statements like that, it shows how ignorant they are toward hip-hop culture.”

“The songs played, they have nothing to do with nothing,” Marcus Francia, the brother of the man whose birthday was being celebrated at the club told the Associated Press. “I’ve been to a lot of clubs, and they play the same songs at every club. I don’t think that would prompt nobody.”

Authorities are still looking for shooters.

Some days ago we looked at a few videos about the Atlanta based dance “Snap”, remember? Now this crunk music video (Snap Yo Fingers), brought to you by the king – Lil’ Jon -, is just the perfect song to that snap dance. Snap yo fingers has good beats to practise the snap dance or just watch how they do it on the music video clip.

Jermaine Dupri, Lil Jon Shoot Heineken Commercial

May 6, 2006

Atlanta Hip-Hop stars Jermaine Dupri and Lil Jon recently wrapped a thirty second television spot for Heineken titled “Jet Bet.” In the ad, the pair wager on who will take home the most Grammy’s, with the winner receiving a 12-pack of Heineken, personally delivered by the loser of the bet. After Dupri wins, Lil Jon flies on a private jet to deliver the prize, one bottle short. “It kinda takes from my video with Jay-Z [“Money Ain’t A Thing], but here we are betting 12 packs instead of money,” Dupri told “It’s straight up Hip-Hop, from the look, [to] the actors [Dupri and Lil Jon] to the soundtrack.” The commercial is slated to begin airing May 7 during the NBA playoffs.
