After a good run at the box office, T.I.’s ATL is slated to hit stores on DVD next Tuesday (July 18).
ATL was Tip’s big screen debut, and it also starred Outkast’s Big Boi, Mykelti Williamson (Forrest Gump), Keith David (Crash) and introduced Lauren London. Directed by Chris Robinson, the flick follows a group of four friends who have just graduated from high school in Atlanta. T.I. plays the lead character Rashad.
The film also spotlights local skating rink Jellybeans, a popular hangout for both Robinson and T.I. in their teenage years in Atlanta. After hitting theatres this past March, the film grossed roughly $21 million domestically. The DVD contains special features, including deleted scenes and videos for “What You Know” and “Why You Wanna.”
Meanwhile, Tip’s King album, also doubled as the movie’s soundtrack. After premiering atop of the charts, the LP has now sold 1.3 million copies according to Nielsen’s Soundscan. The album still stands as the highest selling hip-hop release to date this year.
T.I.’s ATL DVD hits stores July 18.
